CNC delivers a DR-enabled, VMware Virtual Center architecture and core implementation to Albertsons!

(July 29, 2004) The management of CNC this day reports that it has successfully delivered a DR-enabled, dual farm, multi-server, VMware Virtual Center design and core component  implementation to Albertsons, Inc of Boise, Idaho.  Albertsons (www.Albertsons.com) is the second largest supermarket chain in the Nation with over 2400 stores and 200,000 employees. The five week project, led by Norm Hebert, CNC's lead Infrastructure architect, included a Server Consolidation Analysis for 35 physical virtualization candidates, the installation of two "highly available" ESX 2.1 Servers (configured  with multiple Virtual Switches, multiple VMFS's and multiple LUN connections to an EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage Server), installation and set-up of a "VMotion enabled" Virtual Center Management Server and the "P2V'ing" and virtualization of the first two (of up to 300+ planned) physical Windows Servers into the environment.  In addition to being "scaled out" by the addition of ESX servers to the "primary farm" in the future, CNC's farm design will be "cloned" and "re-implemented" at Albertson's DR Data Center such that business continuity can be maintained in the event of catastrophic failure of the primary Data Center using EMC's SRDF functionality.  CNC wishes all the good people at Albertsons the best of luck as they build out their CNC designed Virtual Infrastructure.
